DIGICEL AND SHAGGY'S 'RISE AGAIN' HAITI RELIEF SONG NOW AVAILABLE ON iTUNES FOR 99 CENTS (US)

‘Rise Again’ - the song written by international reggae sensation and Grammy Award-winning artist, Shaggy, is now available on iTunes for download and purchase for 99 cents (US) with the artists and label donating their proceeds to the Digicel Haiti relief fund.

‘Rise Again’ is a Caribbean song, which was written and performed by Caribbean artists for the people of Haiti, to support the relief efforts following the devastating earthquake that rocked Haiti on 12th January.

The New York Times has hailed the song as “fast becoming a post-quake anthem”. ‘Rise Again’ has had a fantastic reception and is already getting heavy rotation radio airplay and news coverage across the globe.

In addition, from mid-next week, the video to accompany ‘Rise Again’ will also be available on iTunes.

Over 60 video messages of support have been recorded by well known people such as the Fastest Man in the World, Usain Bolt; President Martinelli of Panama; West Indies legend, Sir Garfield Sobers; and many more. All videos are available to view on http://www.facebook.com/helphaiti.

Rare Antarctic Experience

antarticheritagetrust.jpgAntarctic Heritage Trust, together with a number of host partners, presents a nationwide lecture tour in 2010:

SHACKLETON: THE GREATEST SURVIVAL STORY EVER TOLD

A rare opportunity to hear Geoff Selley (FRGS) from the UK recreate the original lantern slide lecture of Dr Hussey, a member of Ernest Shackleton’s ill fated 1914 – 17 Antarctic expedition.
The lecture tells the extraordinary story of the expedition—considered one of the greatest survival stories ever told.

Ernest Shackleton was born in Co Kildare and a key explorer with him on this expedition was Tom Crean from Co Kerry.

With their ship crushed by the Antarctic pack ice, Shackleton and five others set out on a 1,300km open boat journey to raise the alarm and ensure the rescue of 22 men.

Presented true to Dr Hussey’s original notes, it will be accompanied by reproductions of the magic-lantern slides taken by the expedition’s photographer Frank Hurley.

As the current custodian of the lecture, Geoff has requested donations be gifted to the Antarctic Heritage Trust’s conservation project to save the base associated with Captain Robert Falcon Scott’s epic 1911 race for the South Pole.
